| DD MUG--A/B | Transfer Children's ABC Mug collected as a relic of a passing day rather than for any beauty they may possess. Alphabet Mugs with two letters (one each side) are highly collectible to form a complete set. This is an early creamware mug with the letters A and B.
A is pictured..B is:
http://www.coffmansantiques.com/images/abcmugcapitalb.jpg
It is excellent condition. These mugs were made with straight sides/no saucer needed. This one has nice platform base. Children may have learned their alphabet from using these by matching the letter to the item. In this case A = Apple and B = Bible,Basket,Bell etc. It is 2 3/4" and has no mark. Please ask for more photos if needed.

| DD Mug -- Boy/dog | English Staffordshire Soft Paste Transfer Children's "ABC" Mug. This one with just scenes. Show is a boy (or girl?)with a rack and his dog. No maker's mark. Detail around top and bottom rim. Fancier handle.. Reverse side is picture of what appears to be Mother and Son taking a walk as the home is seen in background. For photo, copy and paste..

| DD Mug -- Cats Bath | Transfer Children's "ABC" Mug depicting three cats taking a bath on one side and this verse on the other: "I allways have my bath outside the tub instead of inside when Nurse isn't here. Then I dont get wet you see and there isn't so much danger oftaking cold..(sic)" English Staffordshire Mug of soft paste is charming. These mugs had a short life as children "banged" them on the high chair! While single color mugs usually are worth less, this one is old and appeals to "cat" lovers.
For verse side, copy and paste:

Sampler measures approximately 17" x 16" (sight size) and it is framed in a period, if not original lemon gold frame with wood backing. Very fine condition: no tears, rips or holes, no areas of stitch loss and few, if any, pulled threads. There is some staining on the linen (exaggerated by the digital photo), but it is not as noticeable in person as it is in the photos. Abraham Roberts married Lydia Hartshorn in November, 1803. Lydia was from a prominent Walpole family. Moriah, their eldest, was born in 1805; she had 4 brothers and a sister. An excellent and documented American Needlework Sampler and Family Register.
